Hi I am Selen, an artist and designer born and living in İzmir Turkey. I studied Commercial Arts in London, UK, specializing in layout and publication. Since 2005, my focus shifted to Ottoman Decorative Arts, particularly in the field of illumination. An important milestone on my path was when I was commissioned to create a piece that now hangs at the Turkish Embassy in Washington DC. I am member of “The Golden Brushes” a group that has been founded by Havva Sokmener. As a group we held numerous national and international exhibitions. One of our proudest achievements was when our collection of Ottoman Sultan Tuğra’s was purchased by the government and now sits on display at the Presidential Complex in Ankara as part of the National Treasure.
